Montpellier sits at the heart of the Mediterranean arc, halfway between Italy and Spain.

The Montpellier Méditerranée Airport is the 11th French airport. Several regular airlines (Air France, KLM, British Airways, Aer Lingus, Royal Air Maroc, Air Algerie, Air Arabia, Eurowings, Norwegian, Ryanair, Easyjet, Transavia, Volotea) operate to and from it. Main destinations:

  • 3 hubs in Europe: Paris, Amsterdam, London

  • Paris Charles de Gaulle, Nantes: 4 daily flights
  • Amsterdam, London Gatwick: 1 daily flight (up to 2 daily)

The airport is 10 kilometers from Montpellier center (less than 15 minutes drive), midway between the town and the sea. Taxis, car rental and a shuttle service (15 times/day) are available. The cost of a taxi is around €25, and the cost of the shuttle is €2.60 (including tramway ticket).

Other options to reach Montpellier:

It is also possible to reach Montpellier by landing at Marseille then take the high-speed train (TGV) at the airport (Vitrolles station) to arrive downtown Montpellier, or to rent a car (1.30 hour drive). Marseille has several direct international flights.

Barcelona is another option with a 3h30 drive or 3h by train to Montpellier and offers many international direct flights.

By train

High-speed train(TGV): 11 direct high speed trains are operating daily from downtown Paris (3h ½) and 6 daily direct high-speed trains from Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport (4 hours). The train station is located downtown Montpellier near the Corum and most of the hotels.

There are also direct trains to Barcelona, Brussels, Geneva, Nice and Italy, Bordeaux, etc.

By road

Montpellier is linked to Paris by the A9 and A75 Motorways (aroud 700 kms). It is also linked to Italy, Spain, Switzerland.
